There Is Power in Community!

The Bible tells us in Romans 15:5, may the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had. There is purpose and power in community! We are encouraged throughout the Bible to have and support community. This community can take several different forms. For example, you have a community within your family, on your job, in the local church, in your alumni association, as well as within various social and civic organizations.

Last week, I had a wonderful opportunity to share virtually with my sorority. This is one of the communities that I am very proud to be a part. The 70th annual Boule coordinated by Alpha Kappa Alpha, Inc., was a powerful display of sisterhood, love, support, activism, worship, and new beginnings. We had so many great moments! Vice President Kamala Harris challenged us to support our communities at all levels of the political process. Another was a compelling message that called us to embrace the moment from Bishop Joseph W. Walker, III, Presiding Bishop of the Full Gospel Church Fellowship International. We concluded with a creative new strategy to forge boldly ahead in our history by our new international president and CEO, Danette Anthony Reed!

Have you embraced the power within your community? If not, start today by making or recommitting to these connections. As Christians, we are a part of the body of Christ. The pandemic tried to keep us from these connections, but we endured, pressed forward, and made a way virtually to serve God and to continue to support our communities. According to Ecclesiastes 4:9, Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor. Matthew 18:20, For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them. I Corinthians 1:10, I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but you be perfectly united in mind and thought.

Please don’t become too comfortable with the quarantine and isolate yourself from your communities. I ask that you use wisdom and discernment as you reconnect with your communities. We need each other! We can conquer anything together! As always, thank you for your love and continued support! Join me in prayer to change hearts, heal our land, and for the contentment and peace to handle whatever should come up! I am so thankful to each of you for joining me on this journey to re-imagine contentment in 2022!

Always look for the Remarkable in your life!
