It is my hope that we will be intentional about operating in our Spiritual Gifts in 2022. During this series, we have covered “Have you opened your gift?” Next, we discussed “What are spiritual gifts?” Last week, we went deeper into detail about specific things we can do to identify our gifts. Specifically, we concluded that you must be intentional about learning, growing, and hearing from the Holy Spirit regarding our Spiritual Gifts.
This week, we will spend time highlighting the difference between gifts and talents. This clarification is essential in order for us to unwrap all of our spiritual gifts and to use our talents to build God’s Kingdom! Many times, we will use terms interchangeably. However, once we reviewed the biblical definition for Spiritual Gifts in context, this helped us to fully operate in the manifestation of being all that God has called us to be.
To review, Spiritual Gifts are from God through the power of the Holy Spirit. Our Spiritual Gifts are:
Word of Wisdom
Word of Knowledge
Gift of Prophecy
Gift of Faith
Gifts of Healing
The Working of Miracles
Discerning of Spirits
Speaking in Tongues
Interpretation of Tongues
However, the Bible speaks of talents. When we talk about our talents, we often quote the Parable of the Bags of Gold found in Matthew 25:14-30.
Please take a moment to review the passage of scriptures. In this passage of scripture, talents are currency. Yet, we find that each servant used what was given to them in very different ways. From this parable, we learn the following important life lessons:
Work is essential;
God will equip us with what we need;
Talents are not equally divided; and
We can expect to be held accountable
We all must use our Spiritual Gifts and talents according to Colossians 3:23-24, Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. The primary purpose of our spiritual gifts and talents are to give glory to God!
Next week, we will conclude this series with “How are you using your gift?” I invite you to share your testimony on how this series has helped you to open your gift! Thank you for joining me on this journey to re-imagine contentment in 2022!
Always look for the Remarkable in your life!
