Each year during the month of October, I like to focus on topics to help us grow spiritually, that will help us to re-imagine contentment, or will help us to simply enjoy our lives. This year’s October focus is on self-care. I realized that I am not the best in this area. By focusing on this area this month, I want to make self-care more of a priority and I hope that you will make it more of a priority for you as well. Oftentimes, we become so busy taking care of family, friends, ministry, work, and community, that we have nothing left to give to self. This causes us to live a life out of balance and is not the will of God. There are many scriptures that support the value of self-care and self-love and the benefits gained. As the saying goes, “You can’t pour from an empty cup.”
On day six, we will focus on getting some fresh air (I am outside y’all). This is an easy action item that doesn’t cost anything but can easily change your entire perspective. There are so many benefits to getting some fresh air. According to WebMD, getting some fresh air is a major source of exercise, vitamin D, lessening anxiety, improving your sleep, and boosting your mood (Health Benefits of Getting Outside (www.webmd.com).
The Bible tells us in Mark 12:31, The second is this: Love your neighbor, as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these. Matthew 6:28, And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. I Corinthians 3:16, Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst.
Take a moment to step outside and enjoy the beauty of God’s creation! As always, thank you for your love and continued support! Join me in prayer to change hearts, to heal our land, and for the contentment and peace to handle whatever should come up! I am so thankful to each of you for joining me on this journey to re-imagine contentment in 2024! God has so much in store for each of us. This is our year to OVERCOME!
Always look for the Remarkable in your life!
