Peace, Be Still!

In the middle of a storm, whether a health challenge, a pandemic, or an economic crisis, all colliding at the same time—you can have peace. The scripture tells us in Mark 4:39, Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” and the wind ceased and there was a great calm. Having peace in the midst of life challenges is complicated but it can be achieved.

Before the coronavirus, I listed several Remarkable Things that I had planned to complete. For example, I was going to meet my family for Boule in Pennsylvania, attend a Charlie Wilson concert, have a spa day at a black owned spa, and celebrate another girlfriend’s 50th Birthday at a fabulous destination. All of those activities have been cancelled or rescheduled until next year. Therefore, disrupting my peace by changing all of my plans. Although these are minor inconveniences, one major inconvenience that I face is my inability to move around enough to give my legs and muscles the flexibility that they need. Consequently, this has me concerned with stiffness and an increase inability to move more freely. I know some of you are facing major life struggles to survive but you can have peace because God is with you as He is with me.

Now, I have attained a calmness (but it wasn’t easy) by trusting the Word of God and finding the Remarkable in unexpected places and things. I have enjoyed virtual concerts with millions of people from the comfort of my home for free, no parking, and I didn’t have to worry about what to wear! I have also enjoyed a spa experience in my home with friends via Zoom, started a family Communion Service via teleconference every second Sunday and have enjoyed at least three different church services each Sunday morning.

I know we are dealing with a pandemic but we can have peace during this crisis. We have to trust God during the stillness of time and use wisdom as we create new opportunities for how and when we move forward.
