Living Life From God's Perspective: A Deeper Dive Into Philippians - Chapter 4

Chapter 4: The Closing Appeal for Steadfastness

Throughout October we studied the book of Philippians and as previously stated, it is written by The Apostle Paul. Paul was in prison but used it as an opportunity to share the good news of Christ. His perspective was of joy, trust, thanksgiving, and confidence in God. It is my prayer that this outlook will help us to live life from God’s perspective in our daily life. I believe this one change from a self-focused life, to a God centered life, will radically change our overall quality of life for the better.

Chapter 4 is titled, Closing Appeal for Steadfastness and Unity. Because of Paul’s love for the Philippians, he charged them to love Christ in all situations, to rejoice always, have unity among each other, and to promote peace. In addition, because of our steadfast love of Christ, we can stand firm in knowing that God is able to supply all of our needs. This chapter is filled with some of the most quoted scriptures in the Bible. I have listed a few of those scriptures below to help you through this week:

  • Philippians 4:6, Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.

  • Philippians 4:7, And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

  • Philippians 4:11, Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am.

  • Philippians 4:13, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

  • Philippians 4:19, And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

Next week, we will summarize the book of Philippians. I hope you have enjoyed this deeper dive in reviewing this book.
