Thank you for joining me as we studied the book of Philippians. This is one of my favorite books in the Bible. Truth be told, my favorite book at any time is dependent upon the circumstances that I may be facing. As you know, each year during October (my birthday month), we do something special with the blog. Over the years, we have studied the book of Proverbs, fifty-one wonderful reasons to love fall, and this year, we studied the book of Philippians. Please share any recommendations that you may have for October 2023.
Philippians, as previously stated, is written by The Apostle Paul. Paul traditionally opens his letters with a Pauline greeting. As we delved into our study, we found Paul in prison. Instead of complaining, he used his time in prison as an opportunity to share the good news of Christ. Paul’s perspective was of joy, trust, thanksgiving, and confidence in God. It is my prayer that Paul’s outlook will help us to live life from God’s perspective in our daily life. I believe this one change from a self-focused life to a God-centered life, will radically change our overall quality of life for the better.
Paul instructed us that we should have our confidence in Christ and that we should also continue to press toward the mark that He has called us to. Don’t forget the “if” challenge from chapter 2. The “if” challenge provided the framework for daily living according to loving God and how to treat others. Paul later warns us of false teachers, instructs us to always be humble, and urges us to always recognize the privilege of knowing Christ. Lastly, chapter 4 concludes with some of the most quoted scriptures in the Bible. These help us to handle all circumstances that we may face in life. Therefore, serving as the foundation for achieving re-imagined contentment from God’s perspective.

Paul closes with a beautiful message, that the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. This is the same message I leave with you today.
