Listening to the Political Discourse

Woman voting and participating in political discourse

This has been an amazing journey!  Thank you for your feedback during this Listening Series.  We have discussed how we should listen to God, listen to our body, and the benefits and support gained from listening to people. Today, we will discuss the last topic in the listening series which is to listen to the political discourse.  God is our ultimate authority, but it is our civic duty to play an active role in the political process.  We must listen to our candidates at the local, state, and national levels.  Our political decisions impact every area of our lives. This is a presidential election year and we have witnessed several major activities in the last few weeks alone.  To name a few, we have had an attempted presidential assassination; the current president withdrawing from the race; and therefore propelling the vice president to a position of potentially becoming the nominee; an African American female now in the running to secure a presidential nomination; a host of political protests; several Supreme Court judgments impacting how we live; police brutality, a portion of our population feeling completely disenfranchised; all creating a perfect storm of stress, uncertainty, and a climate of unrest.

Therefore, it is absolutely necessary that we stop and listen to the political discourse.  We are bombarded with so much information and have so many people telling us what to believe and who will represent our best interest.  I will never tell you who to support but ask everyone to make voting a priority.  I will ask you to see which candidate aligns best with your issues, and I encourage everyone to get involved at some level.

The Bible tells us in Romans 13:1, Let every person be subject to the governing authorities.  For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.  Daniel 2:21, He changes times and seasons; He deposes kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning. Malachi 2:2, If you will not listen, if you will not take it to heart to give honor to my name, says the Lord of hosts, then I will send the curse upon you and I will curse your blessings, indeed, I have already cursed them, because you do not lay it to heart.

Please stop and listen to the political messages and make an informed decision regarding who will represent your best interest and our future.  Please keep in mind as you are deciding who to vote for that our future generations, our democracy, and our peace are on the ballot.  As always, thank you for your love and continued support! Join me in prayer to change hearts, to heal our land, and for the contentment and peace to handle whatever should come up! I am so thankful to each of you for joining me on this journey to re-imagine contentment in 2024!  God has so much in store for each of us. This is our year to OVERCOME!

Always look for the Remarkable in your life!
