Previously, we discussed how we make adjustments in various situations and just keep moving instead of slowing down and listening for the voice of the Lord. We also do not listen to those signs that our bodies may be signaling something is wrong. Over the past few weeks, I have watched my aunt struggle with recovering from a massive stroke, several friends and or colleagues around my age pass away, and the ongoing management of symptoms of an aging parent. This has not only caused me to become even more aware of my own health and wellness but also the importance of doing a wellness check of those around me. I also invite each of you to join me in doing the same.
The Mayo Clinic has an article entitled 7 Signs and Symptoms Not to Ignore (see attached link for more details: 7 signs and symptoms not to ignore - Mayo Clinic), In this article, they highlight the following and note when you should seek medical care.
1. Unexplained weight loss;
2. Persistent or high fever;
3. Shortness of breath;
4. Unexplained changes in bowel habits (bloody, black or tarry-colored
stool, persistent diarrhea or constipation, and pain in the stomach that
doesn’t go away;
5. Confusion or personality change;
6. Feeling full after eating very little; and
7. Flashes of light
If you or someone you know is suffering from any of the abovementioned symptoms over a period of time, please take the time to go see a doctor. It could be a matter of life and death! I would also add stress to this list and how it can be detrimental to your physical, mental, and emotional health if it is not addressed. You can not only be here today and gone today but you can be here today, and your entire quality of life can change today. Seek the Lord and invite Him into your life. Next, listen to your body and take the necessary steps to sustain and or improve your health and finally, develop a healthy lifestyle. This is not a one-and-done activity but a consistent way of life.
The Bible tells us in Jeremiah 33:6, Nevertheless, I will bring health and healing to it; I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security. Psalm 6:2, Have mercy on me, Lord, for I am faint. Heal me, Lord, for my bones are in agony. James 2:17, In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
Listen to your body and add a periodic wellness check to your calendar. It is a matter of life and death. As always, thank you for your love and continued support! Join me in prayer to change hearts, to heal our land, and for the contentment and peace to handle whatever should come up! I am so thankful to each of you for joining me on this journey to re-imagine contentment in 2024! God has so much in store for each of us in 2024! This is our year to OVERCOME!
Always look for the Remarkable in your life!
