Growing up, I can remember hearing my Grandmother and aunt say, “if it ain’t one thing, it’s another.” That’s exactly how I feel now. From a pandemic to a social justice movement, an insurrection on the Capitol, wars, lack of baby formula, high gas prices, mass and school shootings, crime, women’s rights under assault, and natural disasters are all around us. Yet, none of this precludes us from the regular drama of life that we must contend with on a daily basis. On this Pentecost Sunday, I am praying, help us Lord! We need the power of Holy Spirit to change our hearts, heal our land, and give us peace to make it.
Pentecost Sunday is considered the birth of the church around the world. More importantly, Pentecost Sunday acknowledges God’s promise to leave us with the power and comfort of Holy Spirit. The scripture tells us in Acts 1:8, But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Habakkuk 3:17-18, Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet, I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior. Isaiah 61:2, The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn.
Yes, we have a lot going on; but we have a God that has left us with the power, comfort, and strength to make it! Thank you for your love and continued support! Join me in prayer to change hearts, heal our land, and give us peace to make it! I am so thankful for each of you for joining me on this journey to re-imagine contentment in 2022!
Always look for the Remarkable in your life!
