Have you checked your hearing? According to Peninsula Hearing, adults should have their hearing checked at least once every decade. Over the past several weeks, I have had issues with hearing. Oftentimes, we make adjustments to various situations and just keep moving. A few weeks ago, I was traveling with my Aunt Dot, and she asked me, “Do you hear this noise your vehicle is making? It is making entirely too much snap, crackle, and pop sounds.” I said, “Yes I hear it, but I assumed that was a part of the assembly.” I also started a new medication and had some complaints, and someone asked me, “Are you listening to your body?” These occurrences got me thinking that I need to check my hearing. I need to do a much better job of slowing down and listening.
The Bible tells us in Psalm 116:1-2, I love the Lord, because He has heard my voice and my pleas for mercy. Because He inclined His ear to me, there I will call on Him as long as I live. Proverbs 1:33, but whoever listens to me will dwell secure and will be at ease, without dread of disaster. John 10:27, My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.
It is imperative that we listen! Over the next few weeks, we will talk about how we should listen to God; listen to our body; listen to people; and listen to the political discourse. Because I listened to my Aunt Dot and had my vehicle checked, it is now a much better ride without all the snap, crackle, and pop. I listened to my friend and followed up with my physician and now the medication has been adjusted and I feel much better.
I know it is one more thing but don’t forget to check your hearing! We need a periodic physical and spiritual check of our hearing. As always, thank you for your love and continued support!
