After being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, as part of my health management plan, I would receive orders from my neurologist to do a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The MRI scan is used to provide my neurologist with a detailed perspective on how the disease is progressing in my body. Each year, after receiving the orders, the anxiety would start building up. I would worry about being in the machine for over two and half hours and what harm that would do to my body. I would worry about my bladder. I would also worry about sneezing and coughing because I would need to lie still. But this time, I decided, or honestly, I may have been distracted by other demands, issues, and challenges of life, to simply change my perspective. Now, I view the MRI as part of my annual checklist. This is something that I must do to make sure that I am receiving the best possible treatment to help me live my best life according to God’s divine plan for me.
In order to change your perspective regarding various situations, you have to have faith and believe that God is with you, that He will never put any more on you than you can bear, and that all things work together for your good. As I was changing to start the MRI, I was reminded of the following scriptures from Daniel 3:19-25, Then Nebuchadnezzar was furious with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, and his attitude toward them changed. He ordered the furnace heated seven times hotter than usual and commanded some of the strongest soldiers in his army to tie up Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego and throw them into the blazing furnace. So these men, wearing their robes, trousers, turbans and other clothes, were bound and thrown into the blazing furnace. The king’s command was so urgent and the furnace so hot that the flames of the fire killed the soldiers who took up Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, and these three men, firmly tied, fell into the blazing furnace. Then King Nebuchadnezzar leaped to his feet in amazement and asked his advisers, “Weren’t there three men that we tied up and threw into the fire?” They replied, “Certainly, Your Majesty.” He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.
We must stop making our problems bigger than our God! Our God is well able to handle anything that should come up in our lives. No matter what mountain or obstacle you may be facing, God will see you through it. Next month, we will take a deeper dive into how to live life from God’s perspective. We will study the entire book of Philippians, I will also share some other exciting news, and I want to hear from you too, The Re-Imagining Contentment Community, on how this blog is helping you.
