Back in the Potter’s House!

Yesterday, I attended the homegoing service for Sister Claudine Wiley. She was a beautiful fellow Alcornite from Maryland. The service was held in Lexington, MS. It was an honor to represent the Washington, D.C. Alcorn State University Alumni Chapter. Although it was a beautiful homegoing service, it felt so good to be back in the Potter’s House! I can’t believe it had been over two years since the last time I was in a physical church building for service. It was even more special because it was held in a historical Church of God in Christ Building (Saints Academy).

During the service, the many reflections of her love and kind words from family and friends, resolutions, songs, as well as the Word, made me reflect on my own life and how I want to be remembered. I know that some of the overall themes that I took away from this service will help me going forward in how I live my life and I hope that you will be able to have a few takeaways as well. Ms. Claudine was willing to influence others with her love, knowledge, skills, and abilities. She invested her time and resources to support those that she cared about. She got involved in those causes that she was passionate about. Lastly, she lived a life that inspired those around her to make the most of their lives.

The Bible tells us in Deuteronomy 31:12-13, Gather the people together, men, and women, and children, and thy stranger that is within thy gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear the Lord your God, and observe to do all the words of this law. Hebrews 10:24-25, And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works. Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much, as ye see the day approaching. Matthew 18:20, For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

While a majority of those in attendance wore masks and I maintained my distance from others inside the church; it truly felt good to be back in the Potter’s House. The virtual church has allowed the Word and service to continue despite a pandemic, but it doesn’t compare to the joy of worshipping with others in person. So, I dedicate this post to Sister Claudine Wiley. Thank you for teaching us how to influence, invest, get involved, and inspire those around us! As always, thank you for your love and continued support! Join me in prayer to change hearts, heal our land, and for the contentment and peace to handle whatever should come up! I am so thankful to each of you for joining me on this journey to re-imagine contentment in 2022!

Always look for the Remarkable in your life!
