I passed my driver’s test for the state of Maryland! You see, to pass it when you are 16 is one thing; but, to drive for an examiner during a pandemic is totally different. Because I had hand devices installed on my truck, I needed to update my license to reflect this change. The examiner was not able to get in the truck with me but monitored my driving and graded my execution of various maneuvers from outside the truck. The pressure of completing this on the eve of 50 was stressful, overwhelming and exhausting!
Throughout the pandemic, I have kept my exposure to a minimum. Although I had an appointment, I was very nervous about going to the Department of Transportation, Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA). This was even more upsetting after the news announced a few days prior to my appointment that several employees from the MVA had tested positive for COVID-19 and unfortunately, one died. I was so nervous and contemplated canceling or rescheduling because I was not only exposing myself but had to have someone else with me and therefore endangering them as well. Now you have to ask yourself, “is it worth it,” when going out to public places. But I remembered Psalm 27:13-14, I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord. I decided to be of good courage, coupled with two masks, gloves, hand sanitizer and wipes.
I rejoice in this Remarkable Accomplishment! Updating my license helps me to maintain my independence and affords me the flexibility to live my life according to God’s perspective. Never take your independence for granted. Cherish each step throughout this Remark Journey!
Lastly, for those in Maryland, start gathering your materials to obtain your Real ID (please see this link https://mva.maryland.gov/Pages/realid.aspx for additional information in order to be prepared). Needless to say, I spent a lot of time searching for those documents.
Thank you for your prayers, love, and support!
With Gratitude,
Dr. ReShone
