A Family That Prays!

This Remarkable Thing happened during the pandemic. Once churches and gatherings were closed because of social distancing rules, it also directly impacted large family gatherings. I am from a large family and we gather each Sunday after church for a delicious Sunday dinner and to catch up on family and community developments.

Because we wanted to maintain our family connections, we started a family prayer call and Communion Service that has been held each month during the pandemic. This service is held on the second Sunday and has grown in the number of participants and expanded to now include joys, announcements and an inspirational message. I am very fortunate to have a family that loves, supports and prays for one another. According to Matthew 18:20, For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them. Although we pray and fellowship together, we are not prefect but perfectly designed to support one another in unity. My grandfather James laid a solid foundation for our Moore Love Story.

Because now more than ever, we need the unity of family and our village to survive this pandemic, social injustice, nationwide protests, riots and police brutality. It is imperative that we come together during this critical time in our history. My family structure is based on bloodline, but this love and support can also be found in your community and church connections. We must share stories of our history and uplift one another as we move forward to change our future for those who will come after us.

Start today by creating a family hour at dinner, sharing stories of survival and begin supporting one another in prayer. As we encourage one another, one person and one family at a time, we can change things within our community and throughout this country!

I know and believe that prayer changes things!

Happy Father’s Day to all and to my father, Willie Cooke!
