Here we go again! Mr. Tyre Nichols’ name is now added to a long list of African American men and women who lost their lives at the hands of members of the Memphis Police Department. He was brutally beaten and died because of a traffic violation. Yet, this time it is unbelievably different. The primary hands of this atrocious act were five African American young professional males. None had the respect for their shield, the oath taken to protect and to serve, humanity, courage, common sense, nor the strength to challenge what was going on. How did we get here? My heart is broken, and I am exhausted.
The video was released on Friday. I was so conflicted about watching it but decided to see it to draw my own conclusions. After reviewing it, I was speechless! We have to pray for justice and comfort for the Nichols’ family during this difficult time. The Bible tells us in Micah 6:8, He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and love mercy and to walk humbly with you God. Isaiah 1:17, Learn to do right! Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow. Proverbs 31-8-9, Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly, defend the rights of the poor and needy.
Lastly, let’s respect and love one another more! As always, thank you for your love and continued support! Join me in prayer to change hearts, to heal our land, and for the contentment and peace to handle whatever should come up! I am so thankful to each of you for joining me on this journey to re-imagine contentment in 2023!
Always look for the Remarkable in your life!
